  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Freshly shredded for better melting.
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce Use a robust, herb-forward sauce for more flavor.
  • 1/4 cup sliced turkey pepperoni Can be substituted with meatless options.
  • 1/4 cup sliced bell peppers Use a mix of colors for better presentation.
  • 1/4 cup sliced olives Pitted and thinly sliced to avoid surprises.
  • 1 tbsp butter For spreading; can use olive oil for a lighter option.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  3. On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread a thin layer of pizza sauce.
  4. Layer the shredded mozzarella cheese, turkey pepperoni, bell peppers, and olives on top of the sauce.
  5. Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up, and press gently.
Cooking
  1. Grill in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes per side until bread is toasted and cheese is melted.
  2. Remove from heat, let it rest for a minute, slice in half, and enjoy!

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute mozzarella with plant-based cheese and turkey pepperoni with seasoned tempeh.
