  • 1 each Onion (chopped) Fresh is best, but pre-chopped can save time.
  • 2 cups Chicken broth Homemade adds rich flavor, store-bought is fine.
  • 1 can Cream of chicken soup Use as a shortcut for creaminess.
  • 1/4 cup Flour Helps thicken the gravy.
  • 1/4 cup Butter For creating the gravy base.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper all over.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Sauté the chopped onions until soft and translucent.
  4. Sear the seasoned chicken in the skillet until golden brown on all sides.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together chicken broth and cream of chicken soup until smooth, then pour it over the chicken in the skillet.
  6. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well to combine.
  7. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Serve warm over rice or mashed potatoes.
